The Allen in AllenMitchell (David's middle name).  David has been in public accounting with tax experience since 1995. While small business and individual tax planning and compliance are his primary focus, David also has a wide variety of experiences including multi-state taxation, alien tax issues, conservation easements and in-depth partnership/LLC transactions.  David is originally from Southeast Iowa and spent 8 years in the Cedar Rapids area after receiving his B.A. in both Accounting and Finance from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. He currently resides on the family farm near Washington, IA and enjoys spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.  David is a CPA, a member of the AICPA and the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants.

The Mitchell in AllenMitchell.  Mitch has over 16 years of experience as a CPA and works with a broad spectrum of businesses ranging from manufacturing to construction & real estate companies.  He has extensive knowledge in partnership taxation as well as taxation of non-profit organizations. Mitch also has knowledge in corporate and personal tax planning and preparation.  Mitch received his B.B.A. in Accounting and his Masters in Accounting from The University of Iowa. Mitch is a CPA, a member of the AICPA and the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants. In his free time Mitch enjoys fishing with his Dad and two sons, Caleb and Cade, spending time with his wife Marce and watching Iowa Hawkeye wrestling.

Lori has worked in public accounting for over 30 years and became an enrolled agent in 2013. While her emphasis is on small business, agriculture, corporate and non-profit returns, and resolving tax issues, she also has experience in bookkeeping, payroll and sales tax.  Lori grew up in Columbus Junction but has resided in Washington for many years and currently lives with her 140 pound Great Dane, Titan.  During her free time she enjoys time with her family, taking walks, volunteering at local events, and transporting animals for various animal rescues.   Lori is an active member at Grace Community Church and serves as the Worship director.

Gabe began working in public accounting in 2022, and joined AllenMitchell in the fall of 2023, shortly after passing his CPA exam.  Gabe received his B.B.A in Accounting and Masters in Accounting from the University of Iowa.  Gabe grew up in Wayland and currently resides outside of Riverside with his wife, Kelsey, and their two dogs, Rocco and Rudy.  IN his free time enjoys watching Iowa football, watching and playing golf, hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors.

Melissa started her public accounting career in  2009. Melissa has experience in tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll and sales tax.  Melissa works out of our Washington office.  Melissa received her BA in Business from Iowa Wesleyan College and her AS in Accounting from Kirkwood Community College.Melissa is originally from Ainsworth and currently lives in Washington with her husband Rob and two children Kaden and Karter. Melissa enjoys golfing, camping, spending time with her family and riding on their Harley with her husband.  Melissa is also a Washington Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, and enjoys being a part of the business community!

Becky has worked in accounting since 1996 and at AllenMitchell since December 2017.  She has experience in the preparation of tax returns, financial statements, bookkeeping, payroll and sales tax.  She travels between our Washington and Kalona offices.  Becky grew up in Wellman and is a graduate of Mid-Prairie High School.  She received her BA in Business Management from Central College in Pella, IA.  Becky, her husband John and daughter Katie live near West Chester in the farm house that John’s grandparents built.  She is an active member of the West Chester United Methodist church; and volunteers with Washington County 4-H.  In her spare time she enjoys gardening, cooking, and values the time spent with family & friends.

Darlene joined the firm in January 2023 and assists clients with bookkeeping and payroll.  Darlene started her career in accounting in 2015.  She received her BA in Accounting from University of Guam and AS in Accounting from Guam Community College.  Darlene grew up on the island of Guam and currently lives in Washington with her daughter Delilah.  In her free time Darlene enjoys spending time with her family, baking and watching movies.

Kelsey joined AllenMitchell in January 2024 as the Washington receiptionist.  Kelsey grew up on her family’s farm outside of Ainsworth and currently lives in Washington with her husband Gabe and two dogs Rocco and Rudy.   Kelsey is currently the Highland JH softball coach and offers hitting and fielding lessons outside of her day to day.  In her free time she enjoys playing Co-Ed Slow pitch and recreational volleyball, kayaking, helping on the farm, and spending time with family and friends.
